Prepare for printing
Print guide
How to choose a sample, prepare print files and plan delivery.
Samples & proofs
Tell us what you need to check. We’ll confirm sample availability, scope, cost, shipping and timing before arranging it.
- Reference sample
- Handle an existing piece to compare stocks, bindings or finishes before choosing your own.
- Structural dummy
- Check size, folds, page bulk and fit. Use a separate proof to approve colour.
- Digital proof
- Review copy, layout, pagination and dielines. For printed colour, agree on a physical proof.
- Custom printed proof
- Review the construction and finish you agreed on. Ask which features the proof can represent in the final run.
Preparing artwork
Ask for the file requirements specific to your job before exporting final artwork.
- Start with the finished size, orientation, page count and binding.
- Request the bleed and safe area, plus the cover template or dieline you’ll be working with.
- Agree the colour space, profile, image resolution and spot colours. Check fonts and export settings before sharing files.
- Supply foil and embossing layers as agreed. Name each variant and match it to the right quantity.
- Give calendar dates, local holidays, week start and language their own proofread.
Delivery planning
- Schedule & lead time
- Allow time for file review, proofs, revisions, sign-off, manufacture, inspection, shipping and customs. Agree when the production lead time begins.
- Delivery address
- Share the country, postcode and type of address. Flag warehouse bookings and any fixed delivery date.
- What the quote includes
- Clarify packing, freight, clearance, duties and taxes, and who is responsible for each.
Common questions
What is the minimum order?
It depends on format, construction, finish and how many designs you’re printing. Send your estimated quantity per design and we can discuss options.
Can I request a quote before my artwork is ready?
Yes. Tell us what you’re making, how it will be used and your approximate quantity. A sketch or reference is welcome.
When will I see a sample?
Tell us what you want to check. We’ll discuss which proof suits the job, then agree on timing, cost and how to sign it off.
